Tachi Basami Sewing Scissors by Banshu Hamono

Description / details

Tachi Basami is a pair of sharp and durable sewing scissors with a timeless aesthetic, designed by Banshu Hamono. Over 250 years ago, the blades craft industry in the region known as Banshu (Southwest Hyogo prefecture, Japan) was said to have started with a single Katana forge. What began as the need to produce the Katana has since developed into a region renowned for producing superior quality blades. Today, the Banshu Hanomo represents the traditional craftsmanship of Banshu, producing a variety of handmade blades for today's needs. These Banshu scissors mainly use a high-carbon steel. They are most suitable for cutting fabric, but they also cut paper, plastic and other soft materials much better than everyday scissors.
