Belleville is an apartment building with a simple beauty, located in central Paris, designed by the local architecture studio Septembre. Addition of three levels on an existing two level building to create four apartments and a commercial space. The challenge was to integrate the existing structure in the new project. Three levels in lightweight timber structure are added to the existing reinforced concrete structure. The existing facade has been modified to align with the new structure. With regular generously proportioned windows, the facade is intended as a reinterpretation of the classic Parisian Faubourgian building, but better adapted for current uses and functions.
