Apartment Am Urban is a dwelling with a simple beauty, located in Kreuzberg, Germany, designed by Thomas Bendel. The apartment is a conversion of a former hospital from the 19th century. Several walls were demolished to create a large open space which consists of the living room, kitchen and dining area. By adding a second level in part of the former dormitory, the overall floorspace was significantly increased. It now accommodates two bedrooms, with a walk-in closet and bathroom. Skylights and large windows towards the dining / living area provide lots of daylight to this added story. All bathrooms were incorporated in the general layout so that they receive daylight from the adjacent rooms via partitioning frosted glass walls.
